| We got Quill (a.k.a. Boy-boy,
Bert), our first Alaskan Husky, from Jamie Nelson in the summer of 1999.
Quill came to live with us sort of as a fluke since weren't really looking
to make a switch from Siberians to Alaskans (a 'hybrid' dog bred for performance
and ability in harness). But after a couple of Siberian litters we were
waiting on didn't work out for one reason or another, Jamie suggested
we try this boy as an "alternative" as she thought he was "very
trainable" and would be a good fit for us.
And he hasn't disappointed! Quill is a powerful dog with great endurance.
He's hardworking, enthusiastic in harness and is the team cheerleader...screaming
to go every time we stop the team for more than a few seconds (both an
endearing and irritating trait!). As a younger dog, Quill really wanted
to get down the trail, but he was pretty distracted up front. Putting
him in lead meant you were sure you were going somewhere, you just weren't
sure where! Quill seems to have grown up during the past season and is
turning out to be one of our better leaders.
Affectionate and VERY attached to his people, Quill doesn't really have
much use for other dogs and is something of a loner around Sibertopia.
Below are some of our better Quill pictures. Click the thumbnail for a

Pleeease, Can't I Go Out & Play?
Quill looking sad and forlorn as he gazes out the front yard window.
No neighbor kitties, wild turkey or deer to get excited about.

Cute Puppy!
Quill was just under 8 weeks when he came to live with us. He quickly
stole our hearts with his cuteness!

'Pet Quillbert'
Although pretty crazed in harness, since he turned about 3, Quill's
been a pretty mild-mannered dog around the house and has adapted well
to life as a sled pet.
Hot Summer Day
Quill decided that parking in front of the fan was the ideal location
on a hot summer day. The fan was on, but my camera wasn't fast enough
to catch the blades in motion.
